Since 2014, Cox Communications has awarded more than $150,000 in grants to 34 Orange County schools to help fund innovative programs for students in grades K-12. The program invites teachers and educators who work directly with students at least 75% of the time at eligible schools to submit a grant application for innovative classroom projects.
Innovation in Education grants are open to K-12 public schools, within the Cox South Orange County service area,* for projects that provide creative, technology-based curriculum and enhance the traditional classroom experience by supporting one of the following areas:

Skills Based Learning - Develops specific skills and behaviors based on real-life scenarios

STEAM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Art/Design, and Mathematics

Digital Literacy - Develop skills necessary to navigate today's online environment

Cyber Citizenship (Internet Safety/Cyber-Bullying) - Education that encourages safe and healthy online behavior
Applications should include the tag phrase “InnovationOC.”

The following are are not eligible:

Large scale equipment, i.e. Computer Lab

Teacher development and /or substitute days

Student/Teacher conferences

Professional development

Project Description

Area of Impact: Competency-based learning, STEAM learning, Digital Literacy, or Cyber Citizenship

Clearly demonstrates how it will impact school and students

Specifies any specific program that would be implemented through this grant

Clearly explains the use of project resources
